This year, the Plumes collection has added a new product called Rêve de Plume. This timepiece is available in rose gold and white gold. The feather carving on it starts from the 6 o’clock spherical diamond joint and continues to the left of the bezel. Breguet’s watchmakers use diamonds of various sizes to show details of different parts of the feathers. To this end, the ‘trunk’ part in the middle of the feather is set with baguette diamonds and tapers towards the tail. Similarly, the ‘mesh’ part of the feather is set with bright-cut diamonds of various sizes, creating the general effect of water droplets sliding over the feather. Despite the sophisticated diamond setting, this timepiece as a whole has a relaxed feel.
Watch details real shot display:
The feathers start with a ball-shaped diamond joint at 6 o’clock and continue to the left of the bezel
Case with delicate feathers carved on the side
White mother-of-pearl dial with new feather-shaped engraved pattern
Equipped with a Cal.ibre 586/1 self-winding mechanical movement
The white mother-of-pearl dial is embellished with a new engraved flower pattern, which is also reminiscent of delicate feathers, which spread outwards from the 6 o’clock position of the dial. Adding decorative effects with engraved flowers is actually a huge challenge because the mother-of-pearl is very fragile. The hour and minute hands are in hollow blue steel, the bezel and dial flange are set with diamonds, and the crown is set with a drop-shaped diamond. This outstanding timepiece once again demonstrates Breguet’s tireless pursuit of detail, which is what characterizes all Breguet watches. As a jewellery watch, the side is also engraved with delicate feathers, which is like a classic coin decoration unique to the outer edge of a Breguet watch.
Summary: The Plumes collection is inspired by the wife of Louis XVI, and can be described as the spokesperson for Breguet women’s jewellery watches-the French Queen Marie Antoinette. The patron saint of time has never stopped writing to her husband and her family in Austria. Empress Marie Antoinette used a pen to express her desire for freedom, a consistent theme in her letters. This background prompted Breguet’s watchmakers to create a poetic timepiece, using ancient decorative methods such as carving, and extraordinary gem setting, reminiscent of a feathery quill pen.
